Description:

Lily’s Mountain Soy Wax Candle is a tribute to Lily Von Hammersmarch, a beloved trail companion and the wilderness where she ran free. Built around the beauty of smoky lavender, this candle carries the peace of a starlit hike and the stillness that comes only in the high mountains. Pear and agave offer a clean, cool edge, while clary sage and marine florals create a breeze of wild calm.

As it burns, the lavender deepens into something earthier and more mysterious anchored by cedarwood, amber, and a whisper of leathered smoke. This one’s for nights when you need a reminder of connection: to the land, to memory, and to the enduring presence of love.

100% of all proceeds are donated to the Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue.

Lily's Story

On April 19, 2024, we said a heartbreaking goodbye to Lily Von Hammersmarch, Jess’s beloved adventure partner, who left us far too soon at just eight years old. Lily’s journey ended unexpectedly due to complications from emergency surgery. Despite her courageous fight, she ultimately passed away from cardiac arrest, leaving behind a legacy of deep loyalty, boundless energy, and immeasurable love.

Jess's life changed forever the day she brought Lily home in 2016, a bright-eyed pup of only eight months. From the very first day, Lily was more than a dog, she was Jess’s closest confidante, her soulmate, and an irreplaceable piece of her heart. Together, they explored countless trails across the Adirondacks, the Catskills, the Berkshires, wandering through the woods and camping beneath star-filled skies. Shortly before Lily passed, they shared their first unforgettable adventure to the serene shores of North Carolina.

Lily’s unwavering presence was a constant comfort, offering warmth during Jess’s hardest times and joy during her best. Every return home was met with tail-wagging excitement, and each new day promised another shared adventure. Lily’s vibrant spirit brought joy and healing to everyone she met.

Her passing sharply reminds us how brief and precious the lives of our beloved dogs truly are. We had hoped for many more years filled with exploration and quiet companionship, and facing the emptiness of these unfulfilled dreams is a daily challenge. Yet, Lily’s spirit lives on in the lessons she taught us about loyalty, courage, and unconditional love.

To honor Lily’s joyful life and enduring impact, we proudly offer the "Lily’s Mountain" memorial candle. This lovingly crafted candle captures Lily's adventurous spirit, and in keeping with her legacy of love, 100% of profits are donated directly to Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue, ensuring other dogs can receive the care and affection they deserve.

Rest easy, Lily. You were more than our companion—you were our protector, our friend, and forever a cherished part of our family. Until we see you again, your memory will guide us, inspire us. The mountain is yours now.

The house is quiet,
Today there is very little sound,
No warm presence at my feet.
The bed doesn’t shake with panting breathes
And I feel like I can’t breathe.

The house is so very quiet.
Only one dog bowl gets filled.
The treat jar barely empties,
and no gentle mouth awaits.
My heart breaks a little more
I never knew how much it could ache.

The house is very quiet,
Only the sound of muffled tears.
I don’t remember the sound of silence.
It’s been so many years

About Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue

Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue (SSR) is a non-profit organization established in January 2017, focusing primarily on rescuing German Shepherd Dogs and their mixes, especially those facing high risk of euthanasia in overburdened shelters. Based in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, SSR extends its efforts particularly to south Texas, known for high shelter euthanasia rates. This region's challenges include a large number of stray dogs, low spay and neuter rates, and an overwhelmed shelter system.

SSR distinguishes itself by taking in dogs that other rescues might not, including those with medical issues, those in need of costly surgeries, or those that are heartworm positive. These dogs are first cared for and vetted in Texas; once they are healthy enough, they are transported to Virginia where they meet their foster caregivers. The organization operates on a foster-based model, meaning all rescued dogs are placed in home environments to prepare them for adoption into forever homes.

SSR also emphasizes community involvement and support through various fundraising and donation options, aiming to sustain and expand its rescue efforts. If you're interested in learning more about SSR, including details on how you can contribute or adopt, you can visit their official websitehttps://www.shenandoahrescue.org/aboutssr.

Manufacturing Disclaimer

Each of our candles is handcrafted by none other than us! No outsourcing here.

We make every candle by hand in our home in Northern Virginia down to printing and hand placing every label. Due to the nature of handcrafted products, slight variations should be expected from candle to candle, such as minor wax discoloration and deformation, labels that are not perfectly centered, variations in color for candle lids, or small markings or blemishes on the candle jar exterior.

These imperfections will never affect the quality of the candle - we have spent over two years perfecting our candle recipe and in-house manufacturing process. We trust our process will leave you feeling happy with your candle. However, if for whatever reason you are unsatisfied, let us know and we will try to correct the problem however we can.

Also, please note that certain fragrances may cause the inside of candle tins to rust; this is an entirely normal reaction to the ingredients used.

Candle Care Instructions

With your candle, trimming the wick before each use is essential for a cleaner, longer-lasting burn with minimal soot. Accumulated carbon on the wick, a normal result of burning, can lead to increased soot and excessive heat when relit, diminishing the quality of your candle's performance. If you see black smoke on the inside or edge of your candles, carbon buildup is likely the culprit. Always trim your wicks to 1/4 inch to remove this buildup.

Always allow your candle to burn for 30 minutes to an hour, allowing a full wax pool to form. If you blow our your candle before a full wax pool (edge to edge) has formed, you may reduce the life of your candle.
